The Hip-Hop Integration Program functions as a set of innovative practices that serves to make an eminent connection between content and culture. By incorporating visual, verbal, musical, and bodily-kinesthetic movements into the classroom, the students become more engaged because their work begins to reflect their own knowledge and experiences. Hip-Hop Integration provides such an environment, where students can find new innovative ways to express themselves and articulate information gained throughout the learning process.

As an educator, I’ve always felt as if it was my responsibility to create an environment that encourages individual and collective growth for the students.Hip-Hop can play a pivotal role in this personal and social development, since it has the ability to make significant connections between people,their cultures, and the environment or conditions in which they are placed. The emotional and expressive qualities that tie into these developments can ultimately assist in generating the students’ identities. In return, they not only learn more about themselves, but they also understand more about the outside world. Hip-Hop has had a profound impact on me and I see how it affects my students in the classroom. They are engaged, curious, and willing to learn. This is the intent of the Hip-Hop Integration Program. We provide lessons, activities, and ideas on how to make a positive impact on students through the elements of Hip-Hop culture.
